The CTAE and Ascamm merge

The past 15 days in June and July 6, respectively, the Board of Trustees of the CTAE (aerospace technology centre) and the Ascamm technology centre foundations decided to begin the process of merger by absorption of the two entities for research and technological support to the industry. Patrons of both foundations, which are business representatives and institutional-UPC and UAB ACC1Ó, agreed on the need to gain critical mass and enhance the collaboration of the technologies of both centres; of Ascamm, with more than thirty years of history, a strong emphasis on the technologies of the production, generation of proprietary technology and a strong presence in the automotive sector; and the CTAE, with only five years of life, achieved a remarkable place in fields as pointers such as satellite navigation, the geolocation technologies and composite materials.
The process concretará legally through the integration of the CTAE in private Ascamm Foundation. However, the CTAE brand will be retained to deal with guarantees the aerospace sector and enhance the implementation of joint lines of research that will benefit from the knowledge developed by the two centres.
Together, the resulting entity will have more than 150 researchers-120 from Ascamm and close to 30 of CTAE-a turnover of more than 12 million euros, close to 400 industrial clients portfolio and a significant international presence. A decisive step for the rearrangement of the Catalan system of science and technology, will gain in efficiency to achieve more risk and impact on the industrial projects. With this merger, the resulting Centre will be able to offer solutions and technological opportunities of greater scope for businesses, by facilitating their competitiveness and diversification.
Initiated the merger with the agreement of the Board of Trustees, the executive teams of the two centres now begin the drafting of a single strategic plan which will have as main objectives the recovery of the developed technologies, the creation of new opportunities in the aerospace sector and the industrial sector in general, as well as the internationalization.
