Of where it comes and to where it goes the textile digital impressesion?
For Encarni Belchi, manager of the Alicante company Ecotex Digital, this relatively young method of textile impressesion “comes to print practically only flags, and goes to turn into the most used impressesion for everything, as it is occurring in United States or in Germany”. And it adds that the Spanish market of textile digital impressesion occupies the fifth place in Europe, and the European continent, the second place to world-wide level.
This convencimiento in positive also has it Encarna Luque, responsible of Development of Business of Roland DG Iberia, from the Spanish subsidiary in Barcelona of the company of Japanese origin. Luque Remits to the data of the report of Pira International and corroborates, besides, that the main contribution of the digital impressesion finds in thrown short and in works that require a high degree of personalización, “since it supposes a significant saving in the costs of production and speeds up considerably the necessary time for his realisation”.
A technician with a shadow lengthened
Banderolas, stands, marquees, cartelería, are usual terrain of this type of impressesion on fabric. They are it also those products that houses the wide umbrella of the marketing: from posavasos and mats of mouse until carpets for catering. In the sportive field, the textile digital impressesion uses in pieces of clothes, but also in big format, like sails or globe.
In interiorismo, this technician offers original and personalised solutions, that go of the lined of walls to the clothes of bed, the curtains or the upholstery of furniture. “The designers and interioristas can customise totally his projects of simple form, being able to even have of his own systems of impressesion to realise his designs”, explains the manager of Development of Business of Roland DG Iberia.
And still more than near, this technician explores the fashion from the impressesion on bags, clothes, handkerchieves, ties…
Alive colours, images nítidas
The type of ink used in digital textile impressesion goes directly tied to the fabric on which applies . Like this, as it explains the manager of Ecotex, “in the new systems of textile digital impressesion by sublimation, uses ink disperses basic water, what allows to print directly on the fabrics of polyester or by means of transfer. The fabrics happen afterwards by a calandria for the termofijación of the inks, what offers an unprecedented quality by the viveza of the colours and the nitidez of the impressesions”. In this case, would be speaking of resolutions of until 1.440 dpi in format of hexacromía (CMYK+red+blue), and a width of impressesion of until 3,20 metres.
For Belchi, the inks used in textile digital impressesion are advantageous with regard to the used in the past. The current inks are ecological, with basic water, flexible and without smell, whereas “the ancient solvent technology generated toxic and harmful waste for the health by the type of impressesion, to the hour of the evaporation of the gases”.
Regarding the equipment that Roland DG distributes for applications in interiorismo, for example, stands out the use of ink disperses basic water, “compatible with fabrics whose composition is mostly polyester” —explains Luque—. Also it is notable the use of reactive ink, “that has to use for fabrics whose base is the cellulose, like the cotton, the linen and the rayón”.
Ink and fabric, indisociables
The technological advances have taken out the best party to the conjunction between the multiple elements that go in at stake in the process of textile digital impressesion: types of inks and of fabrics, direct or indirect impressesion, applications…
Direct impressesion is that in that it prints on the fabric, without using intermediate supports. This last himself occurs in the indirect impressesion, that requires the impressesion on a support, that is used to to be paper, to transfer afterwards the image on the final material, to what designates also process of sublimation. In Roland DG, the destined equipment to impressesion of sportive clothes and thrown short of all type of vestimenta fashionable, use the technician of sublimation. In cartelería and rotulación so much interior like outside, from the signature explain that they use models that print directly on the fabric that will be exposed.
In any case, the printers that commercialises the company are allocated to work with fabrics mostly of polyester. “In case to work with fabrics of cotton, silk, linen and other fibres, is necessary to have of the suitable inks for them, as well as of other devices that complement the fixed of the ink for uses that require high resistance and/or frequent wash”, explains Encarna Luque.
Between the most sophisticated fabrics, and minoritary, of the digital impressesion find material eláticos and with special textures, as well as material technicians, “that at present represent a very attractor trucks niche for the personalización”. An example of these last are the ‘backlight', that light with the light.
“The cost of the inks, the rapidity of the machines and the price in general”, are, for the manager of Ecotex, appearances mejorables in textile digital impressesion. For the representative of Roland DG, would fit to advance in “a greater unification regarding the type of inks that has to use in function of the composition of the fabrics”.
In addition to the estimates of the international studies, one of the symptoms of the impulse of the digital impressesion in the textile world is clearly the celebration of the fair Fespa Fabric, in parallel to Fespa Digital 2012, of the 21 to 24 February in the Big enclosure Via of Fira of Barcelona. They participate in the meeting more than fifty companies that show the last in promotional clothes, the advances in machinery, innovative inks and improvements in substrata, etc.
“have said Me that it do only pieces.
But this has a lot of more plastic possibilities and cibernéticas”
Navigator and creator of textures, Ester Ciprián reflects his creations in all type of supports, of the paper to the wood, going through the fabrics. Speech of his works in textile digital tooling like “current pictorial art applied to the fashion”. Far of the homogeneity and that even pervivan the patterned ancient, for Ciprián, the digital tooling opens a world for the alive artists in plastic expressesion.
- How achieves that an impressesion on a fabric have a photographic quality?
What I do are examinations, also called proofs. I analyse the answer, value changes and correct the image of archive until I achieve the quality wished.
- Is possible to keep this level of quality in the finishings in any fabric?
Each fabric and each machine have his answer, it is necessary to know, decide and act in consequence.
- Which type of companies interest by designs so exclusive and personalised as his?
Have to appreciate to the ancient representative in Spain of the Stork Digital that interested by these so exclusive designs and personalised as you say. This went me motivating to go on doing proofs.
My customers are workshops of design and modistería, and particular with innovative intentions. Of these customers do not teach my work; they are his ideas.
- Which applications have his designs?
Practically all. Whenever there is a fabric that of good result to the sublimation, paint it.
- Which advantages has for you the textile digital impressesion?
The immediacy and the plastic possibilities that expand the up to now known.
The tooling by sublimation is the best of the current technicians to print fabrics with a high quality in the results (definition, intensity of the colours, fixation of colour…)
The proofs that have have realised in extreme conditions, bear it very well. Anyway I recommend delicate deal.
- Exist other technicians for the same or better results?
For my work no.
- Which type of market have his creations for textile in particular and for other supports in general?
Regarding textile tooling, the applications carry us to the fashion, complementos, lingerie, sports, childish clothes, uniform, bathroom, etc. On the other hand, in the field of the decoration, can speak of pictures, murales, pavimentos, coatings, upholstery, curtains or baldosas, between others. In scenography, do works for theatre, cinema, dance, runways, drags queens, fairs, etc. My creations also apply in vehicles, where do rotulación, advertising, tunning...
The fan of applications is very wide and has the possibility of editions very short. Also in technicians of video animation, 3D, etc.
- How is his relation with the company that prints his cloths? I refer me to which steps follows so that the result was optimum; if there is a dialogue continued so that what offers the company adapt to what you looks for…
The have a conversation is very cordial and technician. To both interests us that it remain well and do it with affection. The problems procure to solve them in the proofs: some failure in the archive, some detour of tones or intensity…
Always have liked me the workshops, along the years have achieved to work with which consider the best com:
Molto Reig, Seriprint, Circulate textileor Envernissats Eagle.
- And the dialogue with the customer that contacts with you to particular level to achieve an exclusive design, customised?
Generally, from the web, via telephone or ecouriers establish what wants. In the moment that accepts the budget, begin to work: I adjust the design, send him drawings, tones, variations or what have agreed and work the piece until his best expressesion.
- The textile digital impressesion is only one of his fields of work. What other supports explores?
As I do art, have heard of everything, that do only pieces and, for example, number the pictures. But this —the textile digital impressesion— has a lot of more plastic possibilities and cibernéticas.
Like my current creation is digital, any machine that paint digital interests me. Now with Envernissats the Eagle are launching a catalog of textures and colour for finishings in flat hard surfaces (new decoration, floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, mamparas etc.).
