Recycling of slag with mobile crushing and screening 'kleemann' teams
The construction company Adec Building Factory, has formalized the establishment of the subsidiary Global Adec, which will be devoted to the management of construction waste and from ironworks slag. The recycling plant, located in the Polígono Industrial Can Prunera of Vallirana (Barcelona), has an area of 13,000 m2 and it has generated about twenty direct jobs - between operators, technicians and carriers- and an investment of 6 million euros, with entirely private capital.
According to the forecasts of the company, the plant of Vallirana will reach its maximum production level in five years, while for 2011 forecast of occupation of the plant is 100 per cent on valuation of slag and 15% in the treatment of construction waste.
Equipped with environmental security measures, these facilities are able to treat 520,000 tons of waste annually. Most of the recycled aggregates that will generate this company come from the treatment of the resulting slag from steelmaking, with no more than 360,000 tonnes per year. The plant is also appropriate, to manage each year 160,000 tons of construction waste. At the end of the process is recycled 100% of the stone material in aggregates, which are classified according to their characteristics and particle size to be used as feedstock in infrastructural works.
Origin of the slag
ADEC Global and Celsa Foundry Company have signed a commercial agreement for the joint development of slag from the smelting furnaces. The contract, signed by both companies, giving the first management exclusively during five years of these waste generated in the process of manufacture of the steel. Thus the slag that emits Celsa in the foundries of Castellbisbal (Barcelona), will be transferred and valued by Adec on the floor of the polygon Can Prunera of Vallirana.
Nature and characteristics of the slag
A steel slag are waste materials resulting from the smelting of scrap in electric arc furnaces to produce steel. After a process of crushing and screening, these residues are converted in arid quality suitable to be used as feedstock in the manufacture of concrete for the construction, as well as asphalt, bases and subbases for roads and paths.
After separating the black and white slag using mobile equipment of crushing and screening, processing the material to get recycled aggregates that are classified according to different sizes. In the process, the ferrous elements are separated by the effect of an electromagnet and is returned to the steel industry to be consolidated. In this way, gets a quality product similar to or greater than that obtained from the natural environment through the quarries.
"With the processes that we are implementing will get a product with the same quality as natural aggregates that are mined in the quarries." "This type of reuse of resources is still scarce in our country and deficient in terms of quality, by what we saw necessary to take this step and extend the offer," said Fernando Hernández, President of Adec Global. Also said that this is not only a business bet, but it back there is an ecological and sustainable project. "Logically, so that sensitivity for the care of the environment can materialize in a business project is necessary that activity is also sustainable economically," said Hernández.
The recycled aggregates pose a double advantage in environmental terms. Not only prevents the derivation of debris landfill, they once trailed the residue, it replaces the raw materials and "will generate a virtuous circle that contributes to the maintenance of the natural environment," according to the maximum of Directors of the company.
Recycled aggregates production reduces the extraction of material from quarries, which has an impact in less deforestation and minimizing the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, as the process of conversion of materials becomes cleaner.
Choice of equipment of Kleemann brand
The choice of the Kleemann equipment by the company Adec was having tried his team's crushing with different equipment from other manufacturers, this material to be recycled so particular and complex deal and process.
The choice of the aforementioned company Adec brand, was as mentioned the Fernandez brothers, to "teams Kleemann, especially in the crushing unit, gives us a number of very important differential operational advantages over other teams in the market"", as well as a robustness, reliability and very high production capacity, all with the security and tranquillity of the support and technical assistance of Emsa, as importer of these teams Spain".
The three teams Kleemann added a set of more than 100 tons of weight, and are composed of several models.
ADEC is a business group whose origins go back to the 1970s when, even with few resources, much effort and large doses of illusion, began to lay the foundations that would later result in the company that today is making its way firmly in the construction sector.
It was in 1996 when Adec decided to extend its scope of business and founded Building Factory, brand under which began the activity in the construction of infrastructures and the construction of the basic services of the population.
The activity of the company is focused on the public work, executing works of infrastructure, development, conservation, works of manufactures (bridges, walls, water treatment plants, etc.) and of regular type as special flooring; building; service concessions; works related to the treatment of water and waste, as well as protection to the environment, contracting with private and public administrations, reason by which has a broad classification as contractor of the State.
