A device that changes the colors of the traffic lights

Tested in other cities of Spain and of Europe, the system consists of the introduction in buses and traffic lights of devices that will make these ahead of green time or spread it (depending on the case) to give way to the bus when it approachesretaining at the same time and to the extent possible existing at each crossing regulation strategy. In this way we avoid sudden changes in signs that can cause confusion in the driver, worsening the conditions of movement and unwanted road insecurity situations.

With this device, the local Government intends to give priority to the passage of the urban buses in certain problematic intersections of the city to ensure their frequency, speed up trade and, consequently, the quality of the service offered to citizens.
In cases in which the traffic light is green when the bus approaches, the role of devices will be maintaining the traffic light at that been long enough as to which the bus pass before the change to red.

In tests the results have been positive, since buses save between 10 and 15 seconds through crossing. For the time being, 25% of the lines of A Coruña will have the 'Green wave' device, to be installed in the vehicles travelling through the more contentious points.
