"The stadium Maracaná has a historical value for the city of Rio de Janeiro, for our country and for the world. It is an icon of the Brazilian culture and of the international football. The mission of the government was to show to the world the capacity of the country to house events of international scope. From the seats to the lighting, prioritise to choose the best equipments and solutions, ” comments Icarus Moreno, president of the Emop.
The project has taken into account the need to provide to the stadium a uniform and coherent lighting to delete the shadows and offer a perfect visibility in any part of the field, a crucial element for the performance of the players and for the television transmission in high definition. The system of lighting of GE allows to control the glare and the resplandor, helping to concentrate the light in the field.
A greater clarity
Each one of the 396 proyectores uses the technology of halogenuros metallic with a capacity of 2.000 watts, what guarantees the visibility inside and out of the terrain of game. The system also fulfils with the requests of the Fifa so that the stadiums offer a clearer vision of the field for players and fans, so much for the people that see it from the terracings as for which enjoy it by the television from any part of the world.
The proyectores EF2000 are designed specifically to light big spaces in the open air, like sportive installations, hippodromes, parkings, zones of re-create, faã§ades, ports and airports, and the inner spaces of high ceilings, like gymnasiums and rooms of shows. The same system used in the Riverbank Sand of London, that was headquarters of the Olympic games of 2012 of hockey and of football-room in the Games Paralímpicos of 2012. The proyectores EF2000 of GE also have installed in other places like United States, Europe and Latin America.
“Are very proud to be able to contribute our experience to light this monument to the world-wide football”, comments Alexandre Ferrari, general director of GE Lighting, Brazil. “We have been present in a lot of moments of the history of the stadium, including his inauguration in 1950, and also are participating in this new stage, that represents a milestone in the development and modernisation of the infrastructure of the country and, of course, a gift for all those that love the sport”.
