www.futurenviro.es | Junio-Julio June-July 2021 12 Mujeres y Medio Ambiente | Women & Environment No lo hicimos a propósito, sino para reunir las mejores capacidades posibles, pero lo cierto es que la Consellería de Medio Ambiente, Territorio e Vivenda de la Xunta de Galicia habla en femenino. En mi equipo puedo presumir de trabajar con un buen número de mujeres que deciden cada día hacia dónde se dirigen las políticas de la Galicia verde y azul. Desde mis manos derecha e izquierda, como son la secretaria general técnica y la jefa de gabinete, hasta las directoras generales de Urbanismo, Patrimonio Natural y Calidad Ambiental. Es decir, cinco altos cargos, con una experiencia envidiable, que confirman algo de lo que en 2021 ya no habría que hablar: dirigir no debería ser jamás cosa de hombres, sino cosa de aquel que esté capacitado. La Consellería, como digo, habla en femenino, pero más allá de ese carácter que considero anecdótico, habla de la consciencia de nuestra Comunidad Autónoma sobre la repercusión del cambio climático. Un fenómeno que influye en aspectos de carácter global como el desarrollo sostenible, la economía, la gestión de los recursos naturales o la salud, lo que convierte en indispensable dar una respuesta multilateral fundamentada en la acción. Es por eso que desde la Xunta dimos, ya en octubre de 2019, una contestación reforzada hacia este fenómeno, bajo el título Estrategia gallega de cambio climática y energía 2050. Una hoja de ruta que me gusta calificar como ambiciosa y con la que aspiramos a convertirnos en referentes de los nuevos modelos de consumo y de la solución al problema del calentamiento global. Se trata de una estrategia pionera a nivel europeo, al haber puesto por escrito, mucho antes que otras regiones y países, nuestro compromiso de alcanzar la neutralidad climática lo antes posible. Lo hacemos a través de cuatro bloques de actuación, en los que ya se invirtieron más de 317 millones de euros solo en el primer año de vida. I work with a team that includes a good number of women, who make decisions on a daily basis regarding green and blue policies for Galicia. From my right- and left-hand women, the Technical Secretary General and the Chief of Staff, to the Director Generals of Town Planning, Natural Heritage and Environmental Quality, we have five women in senior official positions. These women, all of whom boast enviable experience, confirm the fact that in 2021 we should no longer speak of leadership as the terrain of men, but rather as the terrain of those with the skills to lead. The Regional Ministry, as I have pointed out, speaks in the feminine gender but beyond this fact, which I consider to be circumstantial, it speaks of our Autonomous Community’s awareness of the repercussions of climate change. Climate change impacts global issues such as sustainable development, the economy, the management of natural resources and health, making it essential to offer a multilateral response based on action. In October 2019, the Regional Government bolstered its response to this phenomenon by drawing up the Galician Climate Change and Energy Strategy 2050. I like to describe this as an ambitious roadmap and one through which we are seeking to become a benchmark in terms of new consumption models and the provision of a solution to the problem of global warming. It is a pioneering strategy at European level in that it outlines, in written form, our commitment to reach climate neutrality as soon as possible, long before other regions and countries have done so. We are doing this through four blocks of action, in which more than 317 million euros have already been invested in the first year alone. A total of 171 measures are underway and scheduled for completion by the first deadline, the year 2024.
