The conduct is intended to give the watering of the Marina Baixa of an infrastructure to ensure the appropriate distribution for irrigation of treated water from the 'Benidorm WWTP', "a reference in tertiary treatment stations and where it leaves the main flow for irrigation of the region"noted Cotino.
This performance has received an investment of more than 24 million euros and distribute water for 4,600 hectares of irrigated land through two branches (one up to La Vila-joiosa, and other) from Alfàs to La Nucia municipalities of BenidormFinestrat, La Vila Joiosa, Altea, Alfàs del Pi and La Nucia.
"With this leadership, the Ministry of the environment resolves the water demands of 7,230 users of the lower channel of the Algar, of communities of irrigators of La Vila Joiosa and the General community of la Nucia, Altea, significantly improving the irrigation of this area and making the Marina Baixa comarca that uses its water resources" "in most efficient manner of Spain", assured the Minister of environment.
Comprehensive utilization of water resources
The needs of drinking water in the comarca of Marina Baixa have made essential comprehensive use of all water resources of the area, thanks to the joint use of surface and groundwater, as well as the closure from the treatment plants.
At the moment, the Marina Baixa is one of the regions with greater efficiency in the management of water resources. It reuses a total of 12.7 annual Hm3 of water of the WWTP of Vilajoiosa, Altea and Benidorm.
Also, in the region of Valencia as a whole is reused last year a total of 337 hm3, i.e. 67 per cent of waste water, which accounts for 50% of all water reused in the set of Spain.
