Gaiker-IK4 develops intelligent protection uniforms for rescue equipment

Gaiker - IK4 technological centre participates in the European project Safeprotex, started in April of this year, which aims to improve the characteristics of the costumes that currently employ teams of rescue. Thus, during the next 3 years, 19 participants of this project of technology - led by the Greek Centre of r & d textile, Clotefi - will develop 3 different prototypes for this purpose. With a budget of € 4.2 million, be made to a prototype generic, suitable for any type of risk, and other two specific prototypes: one for extreme weather conditions and the other for the extinction of fires in the open. These models will be tested in real emergency situations by two separate rescue equipment (rescue and rescue action, SAR, and Rescue Greece), both participants in the project as expert advisers with experience in recent disasters, such asHaiti or Pakistan.
Gaiker-IK4 work within the framework of the project will focus on its previous phases. Thus, the Centre will be dedicated to processing with nanoaditivos of the new material, which will then allow make the future suits with the help of experts in other fields (spinning, design, clothing, etc.).
