Braskem is making progress in its project of creation of an industrial unit of green polypropylene
November 10, 2010
The producer of thermoplastic resins Braskem, aligned with the principles of low-carbon economy, will start in 2011 studies of basic engineering for the future industrial unit of green polypropylene.
Once obtained final approval for the project, the operation of the plant is scheduled for the second half of 2013. It is hoped an investment of approximately 100 million dollars (73 million euros) and a production capacity of 30,000 tons per year of propylene green.
Green polypropylene of Braskem will use already tested and industrially proven technology and will have as source of ethanol from sugar cane.
This type of plastic has a high resistance to extreme temperatures, possibility of high transparency, high performance in processes of transformation, stability of properties over time and great versatility of applications.
