Eats announces a price increase in plastic products for the interior of the car
May 29, 2008
Eats (European Automotive Trim Suppliers), the European sectoral organisation based in Brussels for decorative and functional materials for cars and the interior of vehicles, has been reported that the industry has been forced to increase prices of the products based on polymers from January 2008.
The newly elected President of Eats, Andersson, reported that the cause of this increase are the prices of raw materials, motivated by the high prices of oil and energy.
Primary products for the manufacture of plasticizers have recently experienced a price hike. In feet of interior automotive softeners with special properties are used for laminated PVC foams and PVC synthetic leather.
In a sector where raw materials are sometimes up to 70 percent of the selling price, the influence of the price of oil is high. The rapid increase in the plastic of China and India industries are causing even a greater increase in the price. In addition to the price increases announced by the manufacturers of raw material, there are also problems with the supply.
