plasticsEurope Gathers to experts to debate how reach the aim 'plastic zero in dump in 2020'

The technical session, organised in collaboration with Itene (Technological Institute of the Packaging, Transport and Logistical), had an inaugural report of Irene Dwells, Responsible of Sustainability and Environingingment of plasticsEurope in which it stood out that “in some current surroundings of shortage of resources and high energetic dependency, have to encourage us to the maximum for managing of sustainable form our waste. Spain, is the fifth European country in generation of waste, however are in the place 17 to the hour to recover the plastic waste” and added “thus, does necessary the research of solutions that allow to optimise the recycled and the recovery of the plastics in Europe, and particularly in Spain”.
The experts worked in the identification of barriers that hamper in the actuality the fulfillment of this aim and in the definition of solutions to achieve that it plastic waste do not finish in the dumps and manage of a more efficient way and more responsible.
In 2011, in Spain, 26% of the waste post-consumption of plastics recycled mecánicamente, 20% recovered energetically and 54% remaining finished in the dumps. In spite of showing a positive evolution, these data reflect the way that still have to visit to reach the levels of recovery that give in European countries leaders in matter of environingingmental protection and of gestión of waste like Switzerland, Germany, Denmark or Austria in which it recovers the practical whole of the plastics at the end of his useful life. According to Irene Dwells “still remains a way for visiting to reach in Spain level similar. Therefore, from plasticsEurope, boost the forums of exchange of experiences and of knowledge between the different social agents”.
After a first working time valued very positively by the assistants, all have confirmed his interest for following advancing together to the achievement of the objective “plastic zero in dumps in 2020”. The following technical session will take place on 6 June in the offices of the Association.
