Ruukki, rewarded by his contribution to the sustainable development

The prize was awarded during the annual meeting of the Worldsteel in Paris the past 14 October in base to the wide information transmitted and the examples of cases about the implantation of his corporate responsibility in his groups of interest. These data, information and practical of the projects of development of the responsibility of the companies, have studied in different groups of work of the Worldsteel. At the same time, it means also a wider recognition by the important work of Ruukki in developing the corporate responsibility of the company.
The prize was delivered to Olavi Huhtala, executive vice-president of Ruukki Metals. As it signalled Olavi, “the contribution of Ruukki with the sustainable development is particularly visible in the energetic efficiency of the production of our steels of high resistance and antidesgaste. These steels help to reduce the consumption of energy, for example, in the mobile machinery. On the other hand the production of steel of Ruuki finds between the best of the world in the efficiency of carbon dioxide”.
This year, Ruukki also has received other recognitions of his work on the sustainable development. In September, Ruukki reached the position of leader of the sector in the index Dow Jones of Sustainability. “It is fantastic to see how our efforts in the last ten years have succeeded thanks to the systematic work that has carried us to the peak of our field”, as it indicates Toni Hemminki, vice-president senior of Technology, Energy and Environment of the group siderúrgico Finn. “The work on the sustainable development has done to practical level and all the people of Ruukki have done a good work. The recognitions mentioned, amongst other, do that the results of this development was more visible also in our customers and owners”.
