Valencia hosts the VI meeting of machining
February 10, 2011
Machining of all Spain more than 200 professionals gathered today in Valencia at the 6th meeting of machining, a single point of business reference which addresses the problems and opportunities of this industrial sector of the metal.
This initiative, promoted by the Association of professionals for the competitiveness of machining (Aspromec), in collaboration with the Instituto Tecnológico metalworking (Aimme), the Valencian metallurgical Business Federation (Femeval) and the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia, aims to boost the industrial market of outsourcing of machining on Spain. "A sector that" - according to Vicente Lafuente - "is in full restructuring and need committed professionals and opportunities like this to continue to exist with dignity in the industrial landscape of Spain".
The meetings of machining are regular meetings which are held in different Spanish cities. It's a forum for the exchange of knowledge to encourage among SMEs of machining performances in terms of innovation, in any of its forms technology, cooperative, operational or business model, and so that focus their strategies towards new markets and adapt to the existing.
At the opening of this meeting, the President of Femeval has indicated that "innovation is risky, but not to do it is even more". "The companies in the metalworking sector know this and are aware that this crisis only will those who bet by differentiation with respect to its competitors". In this regard, noted that an important option is the acquisition of machinery and innovative products by industries. But due to lack of resources of small and medium-sized enterprises in this sector, considered essential public institutions to foster more programmes and lines of aid for r & d, and the establishment of individual or collective agreements of collaboration with technological institutes.
New technologies discussed in the sixth meeting of machining made special emphasis on the importance of complementing the machining with the additive manufacturing capabilities. According to the head of product engineering of Aimme, Luís Portolés Griñán, UEN this latest additive technology allows to manufacture small series of products, increase their added value and incorporates new applications that machining cannot solve if same in the short term. Among its advantages is the freedom of design and form, the reduction of time of delivery in short series products; the absence of the equipment in the manufacture of parts and the ability to build very complex channels and structures 3D geometries. In this regard, Portolés has insisted on the need to spread the implementation of this technology of high benefit to the industry to contribute to the improvement of their capacities and technological offer.
