Tekniker-IK4 participates in the development of new materials for automotive and Aeronautics
November 17, 2009
tekniker-ik4 participates in the European project Foremost, a commitment to the development of new advanced materials capable of combining low friction with high mechanical properties and resistance to wear, a traditional industry demand. The project, which has a budget of € 19 million and which involves 31 organizations from 13 countries, among them companies such as Rolls-Royce, EADS or Renault, plans to develop important applications in sectors such as aeronautics, automotive and machine tools.
Tekniker-IK4 participates in Foremost with 31 organisations from 13 different countries.
Foremost, integrated in the 6th framework programme of the European Union and with a planned four-year period and a half, is aimed at the development of new coatings and lubricants based on the incorporation of nanoparticles of inorganic Fullerenes (microscopic particles of a molecule in harsh and overlapping layers)Polymeric Coatings, paints, greases or oils, to reduce friction and improve the resistance to wear and tear on mechanical components at the same time. This allows to extend the operational life, reducing maintenance requirements and reduce the environmental impact of a wide range of mechanical elements for sectors such as aerospace, automotive, generation of energy or industrial manufacture.
