It grows slightly the Spanish production of gross steel
5 February 2014
The production of gross steel reached in the plants siderúrgicas Spaniards during the past month of December estimates in 910.000 tonnes, what supposes a growth of 12% in reference to the same month of the exercise precedent. This data allows, therefore, estimate that the Spanish production of the past year 2013 reached the total figure of 13,8 million tonnes of gross steel, growing 1,5% regarding the previous exercise.
In spite of this mejoría in the evolution of the production of gross steel, that marks the change of tendency, the figures of 2013 follow being in similar levels to which obtained our siderurgy in the year 1997, although it is evident that breaks at least with the consecutive descents of the two last exercises.
As it can appreciate in the chart, the change of rhythm in the production takes place from the month of past May and has kept in the five last months of the exercise, with a monthly average of 16% of increase, in contrary sense to it sucedido in the same period of 2012 when the production was very feeble because of the stop of installations. The sector siderúrgico national competes all over the world, exporting his products to more than 120 countries inside and out of the European Union. However, it faces an electrical cost very upper to the of any one of his competitors.
