IK4-Ikerlan participates in the European project Reemain, that will develop a group of tools of energetic management that will allow to the industrial state reduce his broadcasts of CO2 and his electrical consumption. The main tool that will develop in this initiative is a software that will analyse all the details related with the energetic management in a factory and, after processing them through a program of predictive simulation, will propose improvements to improve the energetic efficiency of the installation. This project, endowed with a budget of 9,8 million euros, has like aim contribute to improve the energetic efficiency of the European industry and reduce the broadcasts of CO2 produced by the activity of this. To reach this aim, in addition to developing the quoted program, will promote the sustainable management of the waste generated during the processes of manufacture and the aprovechamiento of the renewable energies developing technological innovations that allow to create devices more efficient. These tools will put to proof in three companies: textile Bossa, biscuits Gullón and smelting SMC.
The tools of simulation will have a series of fields in which it will have to enter key information like the consumption (and, in his case, production) of power in the plant that want to analyse like the processes of production that carry out in the factory, the energetic consumption total, the prices with which explains, the type of machinery and his disposal, if it has some installation of production or storage of power (like photovoltaic plates and batteries), etc.
The program will analyse them, will realizar a simulation basing in them and will offer a series of solutions to carry out a more efficient production. It will propose measured to optimise the performance of the machines like the use of renewable energies there where can result useful, the storage of power in batteries to use it when it suit, or even the aprovechamiento of the power that wastes . Iñigo Gandiaga, manager of the project Reemain in IK4-Ikerlain, offers an example of this last case: “If in the process of production of a factory of biscuits there is a phase in which it gives off residual heat, the software will propose the utilisation of a system that recover this heat and use it in another process, for example to keep the chocolate in liquid state, which would allow to save the cost superfluo”.
In addition to the software, in the frame of Reemain will carry out other two works related with the energetic efficiency that will consist in improving the efficiency and the control of the solar concentrators (a type of solar manifold) and in developing a system of storage of electrical power based in batteries of ion-lithium, a work to which will devote IK4-Ikerlan.
