Itene Verifies and controls the exhibition to the nanomaterials in a European company
18 October 2013
Recently has taken place in Valency the meeting of consortium of the project Nanomicex, funded by the 7º Program Mark of the European Union, centred in guaranteeing the hygiene of the processes of production and manipulation of nanopartículas employed in the industry of paintings and inks, in which they also participate the Spanish companies Paintings Mounted and Group Torrecid.
Splits of the activities of this European project consist in the visit of technicians and researchers of the two main European institutes involved in the study, Itene and the Occupational Institute of Medicine IOM of the United Kingdom, so as to evaluate the application of nanomaterials and his impact in the health of the workers.
By this reason, researchers of the Valencian centre moved recently to Tec Star, a company with base in Modena (Italy), specialised in the development of solutions of high technology for industrial applications based in nanotechnology. The company devotes to the R&D, production, engineering and commercialisation of new material nanoprocesados for the mechanics, the automotive sector, the ceramics, the glass, the chemicals, the textile, the aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing, materials of plastic and compound materials, and all the related with these sectors.
The technicians measured the particles in suspension in environingingments of laboratory, during some stages of the processes of manufacture of nanomaterials for pigments and paintings, controlling so much the distribution of the size like the concentration of particles in the air.
As they informed the technicians, the values measured are inside the standard rank, verifying that the procedures followed during the daily activities and the devices of filtered of isolation are effective to guarantee the hygiene of the workers in the place of work.
The aim of Nanomicex, coordinated by Itene, is to guarantee the hygiene of the processes of production and manipulation of nanopartículas employed in the industry of paintings and inks. For this centres in controlling the existent potential risks in the process of production to the exhibition to the nanopartículas through the modification of his properties. Itene Coordinates this project in which they also participate the Spanish companies Paintings Mounted and Group Torrecid, as well as the centre Leitat.
The members of this European consortium have gathered this week in Valency to coordinate the evolution of the activity of the project, that will finalise in 2015 and has a budget of 4,7 million euros.
