The demand for zinc increases 2.5% by the increase in orders from China
The production of zinc material used mainly to produce corrosion resistant steel, rose a 0.7 per cent to 9.8 million tonnes. Chinese demand was increased by 8.6 per cent in 2003, while the American fell by six percent, due to the decrease in car production and investment falling in the nonresidential construction sector.
Lead & Zinc, however, claims that the increase in the consumption of zinc in China failed to offset a strong rise in the production of the metal in Asia, Australia and Peru.
