Mitutoyo three-dimensional machine for mass capture of points and contrast to CAD model
Metrology Sariki Technical Department15/04/2002
A system of entry points and a CAD software can convert a machine for measuring three dimensional in a scan. This remarkable advantage for the sector has taken place thanks to the development of sensors capture points.
The use of machines for measuring coordinates to ensure the accuracy and quality of the manufactured components has been a constant in different industries for many years. New production processes and, above all, the application of new technologies for the design and production, have determined the evolution of control systems based on three-dimensional measurement machines of inexorable way. Thus the computer processing of the coordinates for the evaluation of the geometric elements, has given way to contrast with the CAD model of the piece and reverse engineering work.
Sensors for the abstraction of points have also undergone a radical evolution; systems point to point moved to the digitizers to detection of points based on the vision and laser technologies and continuous.
The result of this evolution, born LC capture system mass of points using sensor laser, compatible with Renishaw head PH10M and applicable to Mitutoyo measuring machines. LC in combination with software CAD Compare converts a coordinate measuring machine in a machine of scanning (scan) 5 axes with which will be satisfied all their needs in reverse engineering.
The sensor LC
LC is a head laser scanning for machines of the 3D measurement whose main characteristic is the power of capture points (up to 19,200 points per second). With regard to heads of previous generation has expanded markedly capacity measurement being able to perform scans in a band up to 80 mm., with a depth of field of up to 100 mm.
Its full adaptability to Renishaw PH10/M/MQ measuring heads, and even automatic changer drives, allows that the user may have in a single installation of a machine of measurement and a scanning system.

CAD Compare
CAD Compare is the software of inspection which compares the cloud of points obtained from scanning with the CAD model of the piece. In addition to compare, the new software also allows dimensionally evaluate various geometric elements.
Once the comparison, for which it is possible to generate systems of coordinates with the own cloud of points, you get a map of colours with deviations, which gives us an overview of the status of the piece with respect to the reference model. It is possible to obtain sections of the piece and using RPS.
At the end of the work the user may prepare a report that includes all those results and data may be required in a fully customizable format.
All the steps of the examination process, since the capture of points until the final report, can be automated. This option allows you to transform this laborious process of inspection and verification in a simple application that can be performed by any operator.
