Interview with Pedro Salmerón Sanchez, founder of spinning Perio, S.L.
Spinning Perio was founded in 1983 and is constituted in 1990. How the company has evolved in these 30 years?
Spinnings Perio Is cream on 18 July 1983, with the commercial name Spinnings Perio and physical person Pedro Salmerón Sánchez. In 1990 it constituted in the mercantile register Spinnings Perio, S.L. The company along these years has happened a lot of vicisitudes, bad series, but with tesón, a lot of work, formality and attention, have surpassed the bad moments, thanks to the work of our employees, at present nueve people.
The hard work explains also the fast evolution of the company: of July of the 1983 to December of the same year invoice 870 one thousand pesetas whereas in 1984 invoice 11 million pesetas. No few directors called to our fiscal advisers to see if they were true or no the data contributed of half previous year to a back year.
In the warehouse of the company in Cieza (Murcia), Spinnings offers his stock in cordelería, a very wide range for infinite fields of application from professional until sportive.
30 years ago the ways to give to know a company were more scarce and distinct. How they went opening way?
30 years ago gave us to know, in addition to travelling by all the national territory, to base of circular (the fax already came also a bit afterwards, but we did not have means to be able to have of one, neither neither computers). We worked to base of machine to write. Also we headed to the Schools of of Commercial Agents to request his services and like this was as we went us giving to know, amen to hold responsible us of the requests that did so much in conditions, service how gender. By which us enorgullece a lot that have customers from 30 years ago and some that have ceased have left the activity to children or successors, with which follow keeping narrow bonds.
Its business consists of the manufacture of cordage. Has this market much evolved?
Our activity consists in the manufacture of rope and the evolution of market has been to adapt to the times by changing the entire process of presentations. Previously served the 'rolls' such which came out of the machines - with weights of 40-60-100 pounds - whereas now we must introduce yourself type blister. Also previously worked much more the ropes of fibers such as Sisal, hemp and Esparto grass and now also have much more output the ropemakers synthetic such as polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, polyester, etc. You have to go to innovate. Without it, there is no company that persists.
It should take into account that the rope is vast, without precise definition of application. We offer a particular type of rope for an activity and then it turns out that the customer is thinking about application other. This has allowed us to learn together with our customers and grow with them.
What is your main marketing channel?
Since our inception, spinning Perio activity has been linked to the sector of hardware and industrial supply, although it is true that in the years of construction boom also collected fruit, without ever abandoning our client hardware.
Finally, we are currently in a time of crisis, where many companies have been forced to close would be very noticeable crisis in their sector? Do them has been difficult to pull forward the company in during this economic crisis?
The crisis, as in all sectors, has affected us. First by the unpaid debt that we have had to endure, then by administrative changes, the decrease in consumption and the amount of costs. But once again, and recalling our principles, we return to adapt ourselves to the order of 80-100-400-1,000 (good orders), while the of more than 2,500, which are excellent, are scarce.
