La potencia instalada de origen renovable en el sistema eléctrico nacional en 2016 ascendía a 47.921 MW, lo que representa más del 45% de la potencia total. La producción alcanzó casi el 39% de la generación nacional. En el conjunto de las renovables, la tecnología más importante fue la eólica, con 23.057 MW de potencia instalada a finales de 2016, seguida de la hidráulica con 17.025 MW y de la solar, con 6.973 MW. Desde el punto de vista de la generación, la energía eólica supuso el 47,3% de toda la producción renovable, seguida de la hidráulica con el 35,5% y la solar, con el 12,9% (7,9% fotovoltaica y 5% térmica). En la medida en que las renovables han ido sustituyendo el uso de combustibles fósiles, el nivel de emisiones derivadas de la generación eléctrica ha disminuido. En 2016 se situó en 63,5 Mt de CO2, un 18,3% menos que en 2015 y un 43,1% menos que en 2007. Castilla y León: the indisputable leader By Autonomous Community, most of the installed renewable capacity is located in Castilla y León, Galicia, Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha. Combined, these account for 62% of the national total, above all Castilla y León, with 22% of Spain’s installed capacity in 2016. Castilla y León is the community with the most installed wind power capacity (almost 25%) and hydropower (around 26%); Castilla-La Mancha is the region with the most solar PV (almost 20%), with Andalusia leading solar thermal (with over 43%). Ten years of growth Renewable energies started to gain a foothold in the electricity generation system just over a decade ago and currently constitute one of the main sources of the Spanish power generation stock. The evolution of the renewable capacity installed in Spain over the last ten years shows that wind power and solar technologies have been the drivers of the increase produced during that period, with a growth of 70% compared to 2007. EÓLICA, LA PRINCIPAL FUENTE DE ELECTRICIDAD RENOVABLE Red Eléctrica publicó por primera vez el pasado mes de julio, el informe Las energías renovables en el sistema eléctrico español 2016, en el que se ofrece una panorámica sobre el funcionamiento de las renovables durante el año y su evolución a lo largo de los últimos años, así como datos comparativos con los estados miembros de Entso-e, la asociación que reúne a TSO europeos, operadores y propietarios de las redes de transporte de los sistemas eléctricos comunitarios. El informe pone de manifiesto que las renovables en España representaron en 2016 más del 45% de la potencia instalada y casi el 39 % de la generación nacional. En el sistema peninsular, que supone cerca del 95%de la generación nacional, la cuota de renovables alcanzó casi un 41%. RENEWABLES IN THE SPANISH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN 2016. WIND POWER, THE MAIN SOURCE OF RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY Red Eléctrica, the Spanish electrical grid operator, published its report ‘Renewables in the Spanish electrical system in 2016’ for the first time last July. The report offers an outlook on the operation of renewables during the year and their recent development, as well as comparative data with the member states of Entso-e, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. The report shows that in 2016, renewables in Spain accounted for over 45% of installed capacity and almost 39% of national generation. In the peninsular system, which represents around 95% of national generation, the share of renewables reached almost 41%.
