On July 1 was held, in the Ministry of industry, tourism and trade, a day of the Observatory of the Sector of the construction industry, organized by the Labour Foundation of construction, which presented the conclusions of the study on "Productive interlinkages of the construction sector and the media industry." "Identification of professional profiles and associated training", carried out in 2009, and it counted with the participation of all the organizations included in this permanent meeting of sector forum. Those present agreed in stating that "a change of production model is impossible without regard to the construction, a sector which has a powerful effect of drag on other sectors and should be driven, if you really want to revive the Spanish economy".
The study was presented at the event on ' productive interlinkages of the construction industry and materials industry. Identification of professional profiles and associated training ', carried out in 2009. In addition to the conclusions of the above-mentioned survey, sectoral data which also appear in the report, such as the loss of the weight of the developments in the sector as a whole, were offered that has gone from 60 per cent in the year 200640 per cent registered in 2009. That the sector is currently 441.956 business, of which, 877 investments in r & d, whose total expenditure was 281 million euros in 2009.

Proposals for action
The activities developed in 2009 by the industrial Observatory of the construction Sector have identified a series of possible actions that could contribute to the improvement of various aspects that have an impact on the competitiveness of the sector. These recommendations are as follows:
Promoting the development of the whole of the sector, promoting the adaptation of its activity to the new criteria of sustainability through innovation in processes and products.
Design a plan for revitalization of the image of the sector and implementation by all stakeholders.
To encourage support for activities of r & d policies, fostering collaboration and the approach of the companies with r & d actors, to improve processes and products.
Promote the participation of the sector at national and international r & d programmes.
Promote cooperation between companies in the value chain, in order to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness.
Increase the support to the business internationalization and the search for new markets.
Enhance training in all its aspects, as a necessary element in promoting stability in the employment and employability of workers related to the production process.
Upgrade professional skills of the profiles whose linkage between the work and materials industry is direct, and conform to the real needs which demand both the industry and own builders.
Develop lines of research to extend knowledge, influencing the improvement of the technical assistance in the prevention of occupational hazards.
Promote the creation of new sources of information - quantitative and qualitative - to improve the knowledge of the construction sector-related activities.
Promoting higher levels of disaggregation of the information that provides the public statistics, and improves on the updating of data.
Analyzing the economic impact and viability of certain regulatory and regulatory measures applicable to the sector, so that it is possible to anticipate the effects they produce about the same.

The Observatory of the Sector of the construction industry was created on May 7, 2009, through the signing of the agreement of collaboration by the national construction Confederation (CNC), the Federación Estatal de construction, wood and Allied of Comisiones Obreras (Fecoma-CC OO)Metal, construction and Allied of the General Union of workers (MCA-UGT), the Labour Foundation of construction, the Spanish Federation of entities of the Ministry of industry, tourism and trade and technological innovation (Fedit).
