Die 54 workers in summer due to construction accidents

The data registered by the Federation of construction, wood and CC OO related rise to 54 the total number of industrial accidents in construction that occurred during the summer of 2009.
In particular, Galicia, with eleven dead, has been the autonomous community with more fatalities in the workplace. Then sit Castile-Leon, Andalusia and Madrid, with eight fatal accidents each, and País Valencià, with six.
According to data of Fecoma-CC OO, drops in height again be, once again, as the most frequent cause of accidents in construction, after concentrating 31% of the total number of deaths in the last summer. Secondly, the abuses and accidents caused by electricity account 14% of the total number of fatal accidents in the sector, respectively, according to data registered by Fecoma.
The blows of heat, one of the most typical causes of deaths in the construction during the summer months, have caused this summer, 12% of all deaths. This figure, although it has been compared to other previous years, for Fecoma remains high. Among the proposals of the Union to avoid this type of accident, is the implementation of the intensive day during the summer months, a fact that still there is in all communities.
