The Ceramic Workshop of Alicante, that forms part of the Network of Chairs of Ceramics of Ascer, celebrated the past 14 March the VIII edition of the contest Ceramic Workshop, where delivered the prizes to the best works developed by the students along the course. The jury of the contest had three stood out architects: Manuel Carnation, of Carnation architects, Antonio Vaillo, of the study navarro Vaillo+Irigaray, and Francisco Leiva, of the Group Aranea, those who participated in the sixth cycle of conferences ‘Cerartec' celebrated the days 14 and 21 March in the Upper Polytechnical School of the University of Alicante.

During this course, the students of the Ceramic Workshop of the UA, have tackled the sustainable solutions that the ceramics offers for the rehabilitation of buildings. Under the Ceramic ‘title, Rehabilitation and Sustainability' the students have developed two works of real investigation with ceramics. Both works indagan in the multiple solutions that the coatings ceramic can offer in the rehabilitation of the heritage edificatorio existent. In one of the works used the ceramics manufactured by pressesing whereas the another work was the team participant the one who chose the process of manufacture between all the available in the market.

In the field of the rehabilitation, in which focaliza at present the activity of the sector of the construction, the sustainability results of vital importance. Besides, the multiple solutions developed with this material do it ideal to tackle projects of sustainable rehabilitation.

The jury of the 8ª edition of the prizes Ascer of the Ceramic Workshop 2013 of the University of Alicante analysed the works of 32 equipment participants between which selected 6 projects that were defended oralmente by his creators. Finally the Jury awarded three prizes:

Project ‘Ikea Ceramic', of the students: María Elina Marco Pérez. Antonio Manuel Durá Thin, and Laura Martín Manzanaro

Project ‘Foam Ville', of the students: David Gil Thin, Daniel Millor Veña yJavier Pastor Gutiérrez.

Second prize

Project ‘Imagine Ceramic', of the students: Heros Cuneo Gómez, Miguel Ángel Ferrer Reservoir and Fernando Thin Alcorela.

Likewise, were selected for the oral exhibition the following works:

Project ‘Paving Marino', of Manuel F. García, Carlos José Grau and Manuel To. Sánchez.

Project ‘Desert Cascade', of Eduardo Chirlaque, Javier Gonzálbez and Francisco Marco.

Project ‘Tapaflou', of María Florencia Basso, smooth Cantero and Alicia Llopis.
