Sensus meters help weatherize the Metro in Madrid with geothermal energy

To run a project, pioneer in this type of installation, to cool platforms, Office and business premises of the station of Metro Pacific through a system of geothermal heating (BCG) began in summer of 2009. Thanks to this, the underground facilities used to weatherize the energy of the Earth, geothermal, which translates into significant savings in energy costs and a remarkable energy efficiency.
Metro invariably produces a gradual warming that is due, among other factors, heat detached by the engines and the braking systems of trains, the body heat of the passengers, the lighting or present at stations equipment. Part of that heat conferring the subsoil, which increases its natural temperature avoiding the transfer of heat as it would happen, for example, in a cave where a fresh and constant temperature would be maintained. For this reason, creates a vicious cycle of increased temperature on the subway that involves applying refrigeration systems, with the consequent cost and energy expenditure.
When designing a system of air conditioning to take advantage of geothermal energy was necessary to use the subsoil as a source of heat (working as a heating) and in summer as the heat sink, in winter cooling.
