Pastor and Vila present the new vicinities that will connect Reus and Tarragona with 55 daily trains from 20 March

The minister of Promotion, Ana Pastor, and the conseller of Territori i Sostenibilitat, Santi Vila, have presented today the new Rodalia of the Camp of Tarragona, that will go in in service the next 20 March and that will allow to improve the service of the transport of this zone.

The new territorial vicinities will link Reus and Tarragona with 55 frequencies to the day, and with a train each 30 minutes in the hours tip of the morning, midday and afternoon and inferior intervals to the hour during the rest of the day.

“These new provision will improve the service to the citizens; they will provide social welfare; they will suppose a socioeconomic impulse for the zone; they will facilitate greater connectivity and accessibility; and they will contribute to join, add, vertebrar and win territorial cohesion”, has aimed Pastor.

The headline of Promotion has signalled also that the improvement of the service includes a new connection between the coast and the interior of Tarragona. Like this, there will be a new rail service between L'Arboç and Cambrils, creating in this way a new axis of communication between the Baix Penedès, Tarragona and the Coast Daurada, up to now non-existent, and that will allow to improve the connection of the Rodalia of the Camp of Tarragona with the one of Barcelona. The improvement of the rail services in the Camp of Tarragona will complement with the incorporation of the new services to the system tarifario integrated of the ATM of Tarragona before summer.

“The implantation of these new services of Rodalia in Tarragona are a clear example of productive investment, efficient and with high dose of social profitability”, has ensured Pastor.

The minister has referred to the agreement of the past month of November between the Ministry responsible for public works and the Generalitat of Catalonia to promote a series of investments with the end to improve the service of the rail network of Vicinities of Catalonia.

In this context constituted a Technical Group of Work Boost-Generalitat to analyse which performances are prioritarias for modernizar the infrastructures and equipments.

The improvement of the services Reus-Tarragona supposes a total of 10 new expeditions by sense between the two cities, reaching a total of 27 daily trains to Tarragona and 28 to Reus (55 in total). These 10 new frequencies obtain with 8 new circulations by sense that will realizar services exclusively between Reus i Tarragona, and 2 new services by sense that arrive also to Barcelona. To realizar these expeditions will use units 447 i 448.
