Madrid reuses 83% of its waste from construction

The Minister of environment, housing and land, Ana Isabel Mariño, opened on November 4 the new plant of treatment of waste from construction and demolition (RCD) of Colmenar Viejo.
According to data provided Councillor, during 2008, the community of Madrid provided only about four million tons of rubble, with a rate per inhabitant per day between 2-3 kg.
However, those close to four million of waste from construction, 83 per cent has been treated for reuse on the public floors of RCD that the community has in Arganda del Rey, Navalcarnero, El MolarMoralzarzal, San Martín de Valdeiglesias and Villarejo Salvanes, as well as in private management plants that are in Madrid, Mejorada del Campo, Arroyomolinos, Fuenlabrada and Villalbilla. They joined the inaugurated on 4 November in the Era of Montoya, Colmenar Viejo, which will be managed by the Cespa company and which has the capacity to treat the year 245,000 tonnes of RCD.
In the last ten years, all plants of RCD have ten-fold the region's ability to treat waste from construction, to overcome the 5.200.000 tonnes last year.
