Six projects to make Madrid a sustainable city

One of the commitments of the Government of Madrid is the promote a city sustainable, and that is why, both in the planning of new urban spaces and in the revitalization of the Centre or in the improvement of the historical heritage, these criteria of sustainable development are presenttrying to in addition to re-balance the districts with new equipment and provisions, prioritizing a soft mobility, using sustainable construction techniques and promoting the use of renewable energy.
The Municipal enterprise of housing and land, EMVS, explained De Gracia, applies innovative concepts such as the autonomy of energy from renewable energy sources supply systems; the planning of open spaces of high environmental quality; the environmental management of natural resources such as soil, water from rain or waste; strategies for mobility and green transport; the construction of houses of low consumption energy and integrated in nature; and the mix and integration of different groups to achieve social profiles balanced, among others.
During his speech, the General Coordinator of housing, has detailed that the Municipal enterprise of housing and land, EMVS, leads the sustainable development in Madrid moving numerous projects from paper to reality. Sustainable development focuses, as of grace "in the city where they concentrate much of our environmental problems, which is why housing and neighborhoods constitute a key strategic sector in any intervention".
In recent years, the EMVS is carrying out actions in specific properties such as Regen Link, the Sunrise building or the ManuBuild, based on the sustainable development project. The Park of the Gavia or the Ecobulevar, both in the Eixample and Vallecas, are two good examples of how do city from sustainability and environmental criteria.
