SABIC Europe starts the production of bio-ETBE in the Netherlands

sabic europe has announced the start of the production of bio-ETBE [ethyl ter-butyl ether] at its facilities in Geleen in the Netherlands. He is expected to serve as the first commercial orders to customers in early April. This investment in Geleen allows the entry of Sabic in the market of biofuels, and supports the implementation of the Union European of the directive European of biofuels in their States member. This plant is the first of its kind in the Netherlands.
The production plant of ETBE of Sabic in Geleen, with an annual capacity of 140 kt, becomes bioethanol and the isobutylene ETBE, which is considered a valuable component of the mixture with high octane gasoline. The ETBE in petrol contribute to improve the quality of the air, because it reduces emissions of carbon monoxide and volatile organic compounds, among others.
