Expoquimia of r & d award, for a project on support of organic farming
A group of researchers at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the ASCAMM Foundation has obtained Expoquimia Award for research, development and innovation, 1st on the presentation of a project on the maintenance of multiple organic farming.
Awarded $ 10,000, the work is called "Modular system of multiple minibiorreactores automated for multifunctional biotechnology screening" and was selected by the jury for great innovation that entails and the improvements it brings.
The project and the researchers
The work, which falls within the area of biotechnology, develops a method and apparatus for achieving and maintaining multiple organic farming with some environmental characteristics similar to bioreactors of larger size and with a degree of automation of measures similar to the microplate.
The project is contextualizes within the application of the technology based on Genomics and proteomics techniques and of combinatorial chemistry, which currently are allowing to develop new or improved, agencies as well as new substances and processes.
Expoquimia r & d award is awarded 10,000 euros
The authors of this innovation are a team of researchers coordinated by chemical engineer Albert Soley, the UAB, in collaboration with the scientists Jordi Joan Cairó and Francesc Godia (Group of engineering cell and tissue repository); Andreu Fontova and Ramón Bragós, UPC, and Xavier Lopez, ASCAMM.
The award-winning work is called a modular system of multiple minibiorreactores automated for multifunctional biotechnology screening
Objectives of the award
Expoquimia has convened for the first time the Expoquimia r & d award in recognition of the research work of Spanish scientists in the field of chemistry and in order to contribute to the promotion and dissemination of the implementation of the chemical and technological knowledge.
This fact is especially relevant at a time in which the representatives of the industrial and scientific sector related to chemistry are still requesting greater support to the r & d in Spain.
