Corbion Purac And BASF produce the first commercial quantities of acid succínico of biological base

Succinity GmbH, the conjoint company between Corbion Purac and BASF for the production and commercialisation of acid succínico of biological base, has announced the set up successfully of his first installation of commercial production. The plant, situated in the centre of Corbion Purac in Montmeló (Barcelona), has an annual capacity of 10.000 metric tonnes and produces commercial quantities of acid succínico of biological base for the global market. In addition to this first installation, Succinity has foreseen to open a second plant on a large scale. The final decision on the investment for this installation will take after a satisfactory introduction in the market.

The process of Succinity is based in renewable raw materials and in the fixation of carbon dioxide. The microorganism patented Basfia succiniciproducens allows to use distinct raw materials of flexible form. Besides, the acid succínico of biological base of Succinity can produce of efficient form without generating big quantities of waste thanks to a process of enclosed cycle. An elaborated method of back processing guarantees the production of acid succínico of biological base of high quality.

Conscious of the technological advances and of the increasing need of renewable intermediate products in distinct fields of application, BASF and Corbion Purac carry working in the development of the acid succínico of biological base from 2009.
