Purchase in industrial chemistry prices grow in the second quarter
If we compare the prices of these raw materials with those already registered in the previous quarter, we can see also experienced a significant inflationary rebound, of the order of the (+ 1.59 per cent).
Other sectors that have also experienced inflationary rises have been non-metallic materials (+ 2.23%), the industrial chemistry (+ 1.59 per cent), and electrical equipment (+ 1.54 percent). On the contrary, the sectors that have recorded declines in prices have been non-ferrous metals (- 1.92 per cent), cleaning (- 1.73%) material and pharmaceutical chemistry and cosmetics (-0.52 per cent).
Finally, the forecast calculated for 1-10-2004 is 103.65. I.e., the upward trend recorded this quarter tends to disappear in the third quarter of 2004, and the prices tend to stabilize.
Index of purchase prices (IPCO) is a study by Aerce (Spanish Association of responsible of purchases and stocks) on a quarterly basis, since 1996. The information is provided by a panel of more than one hundred companies associated to Aerce in Spain.
The study presents the evolution of prices of more than 500 commodities and purchases products, grouped in different industrial sectors and services.
The evolution of prices of the different industrial sectors and services allows to obtain the index of purchase prices (IPCO) estimated by the weighted average of each sector in the whole of Spanish GDP, which indicates the variation of the set of purchase prices of raw materials and products from shopping in Spain.
