The electricity industry warned that the waste management regulations will destroy jobs

The sector of electric and electronic industry represented by associations Aetic, affected, Afme, DTI, Anfel, Asimelec, Fape and Fer, is opposed to the draft prepared by the Ministry of environment of Royal Decree of transposition of the directives on waste of electrical and electronic equipment managementgiven that it may lead to the relocation of activities and the loss of jobs.
Associations, whose members joined a volume of market exceeding the 80 billion euros, expressed in a statement its firm opposition to the aforementioned regulations, because they believe that it will have a significant negative impact in the economy and the future of the Spanish industry.
The representatives of the sector explained that, while supporting the policy and the objectives of protection of the environment referred to in those directives, the current draft Royal Decree does not respect neither spirit nor its content, which would lead to serious problems for the industry.
The sector reported that its opinion has been taken into account in the elaboration of the draft, whose most hotspots are focused on the extension of producer responsibility, the absence of a national register of producers, systems harmonization of inspection and control and the harmonisation of legislation of the autonomous communities.
