The intelligent fertilisation, key for the feeding of an increasing population
22 January 2014
The intelligent fertilisation constitutes like the technological key to answer to the world-wide challenge of the feeding of an increasing world-wide population, that expects that it reach the 9.600 million people in 2050. Combining the systems of navigation by satellite with the utilisation, in real time, of sensors of field, the equipment of intelligent fertilisation allow to the agriculturalists realizar these works of specific form, to measure, with results in the production and reduction in the use of fertilizante.
In words of Ulrich Adam, Secretary General of Cema, during his intervention in the meeting ‘Feeding the world in 2050: Smart use of Fertilizers', the intelligent fertilisation is “a technology that increases the performances of the crops to the time that allows to reduce the use of a scarce and valuable resource as they are the fertilizantes and a true form to benefit by the same to agriculturalists and the environingingment”. The use of this type of technology allows, depending on the variation and the technology used, an increase of the performance around the 6-8%, to the time that economiza the application in 15%, supposing an effective saving of until 100 euros by hectare. At the same time, a greater precision in the application of fertilizantes is beneficial for the environingingment, particularly in areas ecologically sensitive near to courses of water or lindes of fields. “In spite of his potential, —stands out Adam—, this new technology still finds in his development. Hardly 5% of the agricultural fields in Germany applies similar procedures, although the learning and his application in some European regions will allow to improve the capacity of work of the agriculturalists favouring the investment in these equipment”.
