FuturEnergy Sept.-Oct.22

Another example of Hyundai’s commitment to zero-emission technologies and relating to electrifying competition, is the roll-out of the RN22e and N Vision 74 models. The RN22e offers racetrack capability by adapting and optimising a modern E-GMP platform and an optimised design based on the IONIQ 6. As the first “Rolling Lab” from Hyundai N built on an E-GMP platform, the RN22e demonstrates the vision and direction of the N brand in the electrification sector, while opening up possibilities for the future commercialisation of high-performance electric models. The prototype’s name comes from the fact that it is an N brand rolling lab with electric technology, developed in 2022. Adapting the aerodynamic design of the IONIQ 6, the RN22e makes the most of the aerodynamics of latest generation EVs; while inspired by the heritage of modern vehicles, the N Vision 74 is a high-performance hybrid hydrogen fuel cell model. Sustainable mobility lifts off with Hyundai In addition to being present in the automotive market, in July 2022 the Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) company Supernal unveiled its eVTOL vehicle cabin concept at the Farnborough International Airshow. Supernal’s five-seat cabin concept shows how the company is harnessing automotive design processes andmaterials, while meeting commercial aviation’s highest safety standards, thus optimising the AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) passenger experience. The design is inspired by the biomimicry philosophy - in this case a butterfly - and the company’s pillars of safety with a humancentred design and environmental responsibility. Also, in July this year, HMG and Rolls-Royce joined forces to take advantage of the aerospace and certification capabilities of Rolls-Royce, as well as the hydrogen fuel cell technology and industrialisation capabilities of HMG. With this collaboration, both brands seek to provide battery energy and fuel cell solutions for the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Regional Air Mobility (RAM) markets, advancing sustainable aviation. Hyundai’s nature- and human-centred city of the future In its commitment to find balance between humankind, nature and the mobility of the future, HMG presented its Smart City model at the 2022 World Cities Summit. This presentation included the use of EVs such as the IONIQ 5, along with other solutions under development such as the robotaxi (2023) and eVTOL (2028).
