Antecedentes En octubre de 2017, Veolia, colocaba la primera piedra de esta nueva central térmica, a la vez que anunciaba la adjudicación de un contrato de gestión energética de tres hospitales de la provincia, el propio Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía, el Hospital Infanta Margarita de Cabra y el Hospital Valle de los Pedroches de Pozoblanco. Se trataba de un contrato mixto de gestión de suministros y servicios con la realización de obras, por un periodo de 15 años y por valor de 84,2 M€. En el contrato se incluía la gestión de las centrales térmicas y el suministro de energía para atender la demanda de calefacción, agua caliente sanitaria, vapor y frío para los tres hospitales, con el objetivo de garantizar el confort y la seguridad de los pacientes y la eficiencia energética de las instalaciones. Con este contrato, Veolia se comprometía a dar servicio a un total de 24 edificios hospitalarios, atienden un área de influencia formada por 1.440.000 ciudadanos, lo que convertió al acuerdo en el mayor contrato de servicios energéticos con ahorro compartido realizado hasta aquel momento en edificios públicos de Andalucía. Entre las distintas actuaciones incluidas en el acuerdo, además del suministro energético, mantenimiento y garantía total, Veolia también se comprometió a realizar inversiones en ahorro energético y energías renovables como: • Instalación de una central térmica a biomasa en el Hospital Los Morales. Background In October 2017, Veolia laid the first stone of this new thermal power plant, coinciding with the announcement the award of an energy management contract with three hospitals in the province: the Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía itself, the Hospital Infanta Margarita de Cabra and the Hospital Valle de los Pedroches in Pozoblanco. This is a mixed contract for the management of supplies and services and the execution of works over a period of 15 years, amounting to €84.2m. The contract includes the management of the power plants and the supply of energy to cover the demand for heating, domestic hot water, steam and cooling for the three hospitals, with the aim of guaranteeing the comfort and safety of patients and the energy efficiency of the installations. This contract commits Veolia to providing services to a total of 24 hospital buildings, covering an area of influence comprising 1,440,000 residents, thus making it the largest energy services contract with shared savings to be undertaken to date for public buildings in Andalusia. Different actions are included in the agreement, apart from the supply of energy, maintenance and overall guarantee. Veolia has also committed to making investments in energy saving and renewables, including: • Installation of a biomass-fired thermal power plant at the Hospital Los Morales. • Improvement and update of the solar thermal power installations in every centre. • Installation of a PV plant for self-consumption at the Hospital Reina Sofía. • Installation of a cogeneration genset to produce DHW and electricity for self-consumption at the Hospital Reina Sofía. These improvements, together with efficient management, will not only increase the availability of the installations and eliminate the associated risks, but also reduce the energy cost and CO2 emissions by 25%. Once completed, all these implementations will result in an estimated annual saving of €1.9mwhich, over the contractual period of 15 years, will translate into a saving for the Administration of a minimum of €29m. NUEVA CENTRAL TÉRMICA DEL HOSPITAL REINA SOFÍA (CÓRDOBA) El Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía cuenta desde marzo con una nueva central térmica, única en España por sus características técnicas, que permitirá mejorar la calidad del funcionamiento de servicios básicos del hospital como la climatización (frío y calor) y la producción de agua caliente y de vapor (necesario para áreas como lavandería o esterilización). Concretamente, las nuevas instalaciones permitirán reducir en un 34% el consumo energético, es decir, el centro ahorrará una cantidad de energía similar a la que consumen 1.000 hogares al año. Gracias a una inversión de 4,8 M€, el hospital cuenta ahora con una instalación puntera a nivel nacional, ya que el centro de producción dispone de la última tecnología existente en materia de gestión energética, y está diseñada con los mejores criterios de eficiencia. NEW THERMAL POWER PLANT AT THE HOSPITAL REINA SOFÍA (CÓRDOBA) Since March, the Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía has benefitted from a new thermal power plant, unique in Spain thanks to its technical characteristics, whichwill improve the operating quality of the hospital’s basic services such as HVAC (heating and cooling), hot water and steam production (necessary for areas such as laundry and sterilisation). In fact, the new installations will reduce energy consumption by 34%, in other words, the plant will save a quantity of energy similar to the annual consumption of 1,000 homes. Thanks to an investment of €4.8m, the hospital now benefits from a pioneering installation at national level, as the production centre is equippedwith the latest technology available as regards energy management and has been designed applying the best efficiency criteria.
