En Portada | Cover Story Por esta firme responsabilidad con la naturaleza y el medio ambiente, Eurofred ha recibido por parte del Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio ambiente (MAGRAMA) el sello “Calculo”, perteneciente a la primera sección del registro de huella de carbono. Dicho registro, tiene tres dimensiones: “Calculo, Reduzco y Compenso y distingue a aquellas organizaciones que calculan su huella de carbono y se comprometen a reducir sus emisiones. Proyecto Re-using and Sharing También en esta línea, una de las grandes iniciativas de la compañía en su compromiso por la reducción de sus emisiones, es el proyecto Re-using and Sharing. Éste, impulsado desde el departamento de logística, se basa en la reutilización, con otras empresas, de los contenedores que llegan o salen de sus almacenes, evitando que viajen en vacío. Los contenedores del centro logístico de Eurofred en Vila-Rodona (Tarragona) llegan a los almacenes llenos y retornan vacíos y, a menudo, se quedan en depósito hasta su nuevo uso. En 2013 el equipo de logística de Eurofred se empezó a cuestionar la racionalidad de un procedimiento que obligaba a abonar el arrastre de un contenedor vacío. La idea era compartir ese contenedor con otra empresa que pudiera llenarlo en la proximidad de Eurofred y que volviera lleno a puerto. Actualmente con el proyecto implantado en su totalidad, Eurofred logra reducir el impacto de sus emisiones de CO2 en un 32%, además de reducir sus costes en un 22%. La empresa también ha activado varias iniciativas con el objetivo de ser más sostenible en su día a día. Entre ellas están la renovación de la flota de coches comerciales a coches híbridos, el uso de papel ecológico, o la introducción de luces LED en sus oficinas. Re-using and Sharing Project Also along these lines, one of the key initiatives of the company in its commitment to reducing emissions is the Re-using and Sharing Project. Promoted by its logistics department, this project is based on reusing containers, in collaboration with other companies that arrive at or leave their warehouses thereby avoiding them being transported empty. The containers from the Eurofred Logistics Centre in VilaRodona (Tarragona) arrive at the warehouses full and are returned empty, often remaining in the store until they need to be used again. In 2013 the logistics team at Eurofred started to question the rationality of a procedure that obliged them to pay for the transportation of an empty container. The idea was to share that container with another company, located in the vicinity of Eurofred that would be able to fill it so that it would return to the port full.With the project fully implemented, Eurofred has been able to reduce the impact of its CO2 emissions by 32%, in addition to bringing down their costs by 22%. The company has also put into place various initiatives with the aim of being more sustainable in its daily activity. These include renewing the commercial car fleet with hybrid vehicles, the use of ecological paper and the introduction of LED lights in its offices.
