ACCIONA ha construido dos nuevas líneas de flotación en la ETAP, cada una con capacidad para tratar 600 l/s. Con estas mejoras, la capacidad total de tratamiento de la planta es de 3 m3/s. El proyecto ha contado con un presupuesto de 4,6 M€ y permite duplicar la capacidad de la planta para producir agua potable, apta para el consumo. Las obras han permitido una mejora de las instalaciones para incrementar el suministro de agua en la zona, garantizando el aprovisionamiento a toda la región en épocas de mayor escasez hídrica. Esta ampliación en la capacidad de suministro también da respuesta a las particularidades del agua bruta de la región, y refuerza las características del nuevo esquema de tratamiento abasteciendo a todo el perímetro del Algarve. La ETAP de Alcantarilha fue adjudicada a ACCIONA por Aguas do Algarve en el año 1999 y fue la primera obra de ACCIONA en Portugal. Se encuentra ubicada en la localidad de Silves y dispone de una capacidad de 259.200 m3/d, sirviendo a una población de 1.050.000 habitantes equivalentes. Contexto general del proyecto. Situación de partida La ETAP de Alcantarilha, en Portugal, es una planta de 1999, construida por un consorcio de empresas, formado entre otros por Pridesa (empresa adquirida por ACCIONA posteriormente). Construida para captaciones en la represa del Funcho, desde 2012 la potabilizadora es alimentada por la represa de Odelouca y por aguas subterráneas.
