With the aim of simplifying this problem to the greatest possible degree for waste management companies, TEIMAS developed and is constantly updating its Teixo software, which it has been offering as Software as a Service, or SAaS, without interruption since 2011. Iago Elizechea (Marín, 1977), CTO at TEIMAS, tells us that “keeping Teixo constantly updated is a challenge that occupies two scenarios at the same time. On the one hand, we have legislation: the TEIMAS team focusing on this area always has its finger on the pulse of regulatory changes in the field of waste and is in constant contact with the different public authorities and sectoral associations. This allows us to be prepared for forthcoming legislative changes and enhances planning of the modifications to the Teixo code needed in order to comply with new legislation. And then there are the different procedural platforms, all of which evolve and change, and have their own particular ways of receiving and validating documentation. From time to time, some of these platforms become obsolete and are replaced by others. Teixo has to adapt to all these changes and evolve in an intelligent way in order to ensure as little disruption as possible to the daily work of waste managers”. Teixo now serves almost 600 centres throughout Spain and generated over two million environmental documents in 2020, a figure that could double by the end of 2021. Moreover, in addition to processing the documentation correctly, Teixo has managed to reduce the processing time per document on several of these platforms. These first weeks of September have been very intense at TEIMAS due to the entry into force of the mandatory processing of waste shipment documentation through the e-SIR platform, developed by the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITERD), and some changes made to the proprietary platforms of the Autonomous Communities. “Daily meetings take place between the Technical Department and the Customer Success Department to monitor new developments, progress and potential problems, as well as to define the most effective solutions. It’s September... and the pace is breathtaking but we were ready and moving forward at great speed,” says Estrella Moreira (Zas, 1983), head of the Customer Success Department, with a smile on her face. TEIMAS TEIMAS is a Galician word that could be translated as a plural form of “tenacity”, “determination” or “perseverance”.
