All these areas apply to agriculture, industry and urban water. And they also apply to small population centres, which have taken on importance in recent months as a result of the development of teleworking and are expected to grow in the coming years. These rural population centres are extremely important in terms of addressing demographic challenge and achieving territorial balance in Spain. And all these are fields in which many Spanish companies operate with excellence. And, given the possibility of funding for new projects, they will have to take on more highly qualified professionals in a great diversity of disciplines. Experts in water chemistry, engineers, biologists and technology specialists are just some examples of the professional profiles required. This diversity also illustrates the cross-disciplinary nature of the water sector and its capacity to act as a driver of the economy of the country. All this is desirable and feasible, and our wish is for it to become foreseeable and real.We also hope that it serves to promote the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of projects and initiatives. And although these projects should be duly supervised, they should also be free of much of the habitual bureaucracy that hinders them. In this respect, public-private partnership and Public Procurement of Innovative Solutions should be implemented wherever possible. This would not only stimulate the economy and the private sector but also consolidate processes for the creation of innovative solutions that would help companies to remain at the forefront of the sector. Because this is what will enable companies to continue being profitable and to create jobs. Competitiveness and social commitment. Economic development and environmental sustainability. The water sector is necessary to achieve all this and that is why it is so important to support and promote the development of this sector. As the association representing private water sector companies, AQUA ESPAÑA will continue to work on the technical and economic development of the sector. We will contribute our opinions on new draft legislation, help companies to promote their solutions, facilitate ongoing professional development and promote relations amongst companies in the sector. We have done all this satisfactorily in 2020, with natural adaptation to the new digital environment and we will continue to carry out this work in 2021, with and for our member companies. Seguiremos ayudando a las empresas socias, promoviendo mejores marcos legales y técnicos, facilitándoles llegar a sus públicos de interés, conectándolos y formándolos We will continue to support our member companies by promoting better legal frameworks, helping them to reach their target markets, connecting them and training them A fondo: Análisis 2020 | In depth: Analysis of 2020 FuturEnviro | Noviembre/Diciembre November/December 2020 www.futurenviro.es 63
