Así, tras 4 años de desarrollo, el Comité Europeo de Normalización (CEN) ha publicado la primera norma Europea para tuberías y accesorios de PVC Orientado, EN 17176 “Plastics piping systems for water supply and for buried and above ground drainage, sewerage and irrigation under pressure - Oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O)”. Esta nueva norma, constituye un nuevo referente a nivel europeo para el PVC-O y permite la especificación para las tuberías y accesorios de PVC-O destinadas a aplicarse para el uso de suministro de agua potable, drenajes, alcantarillado, aguas residuales tratadas y sistemas de riego, ya sean subterráneos o sobre la superficie, presurizados hasta 25 bares y hasta 45 °C de temperatura del fluido. La primera diferencia de esta nueva norma EN 17176 con respecto a la normativa ISO de referencia es que tiene la misma estructura que la normativa de otros tipos de materiales plásticos como polietileno y PVC convencional utilizados en conducciones de agua. En realidad es una serie que consta de 5 partes que incluyen los requerimientos para la materia prima, las tuberías y los accesorios de PVC-O, así como las pruebas a las que han de someterse para ajustarse al propósito diseñado. Siendo las siguientes: • EN 17176-1: General Part 1: General (material characteristics, definitions and classifications); • EN17176-2: Tuberías Part 2: Pipes, (characteristics of solid wall pipes, product range, testing…); • CEN /TS 17176-3: Accesorios Part 3: Fittings, (characteristics of PVC-O fittings); • EN 17176- 5: Aptitud al uso del sistema Part 5: Fitness for purpose of the system, including its components; • prEN 17176-7: Guía para la Evaluación de la conformidad Part 7: (still under preparation) Assessment of conformity. La norma ha sido desarrollada por el Comité de Normalización Europeo CEN/TC 155 “Plastics piping systems and ducting systems”, en concreto en el grupo de trabajo WG8, que es el encargado de desarrollar normativa para tuberías de PVC presión, en el que Molecor ha participado como TEPPFA (European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association) began the process of drafting and developing the Standard and Molecor participated actively in this task. After a fouryear development period, the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) has published the first European Standard for Oriented PVC pipes and fittings, EN 17176 “Plastics piping systems for water supply and for buried and aboveground drainage, sewerage and irrigation under pressure - Oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O)”. This Standard constitutes a new benchmark at European level for PVC-O and enables the specification of PVC-O pipes and fittings intended for water supply use, drainage, sewage, treated wastewater and irrigation systems, be they underground or overground, at pressures of up to 25 bar and fluid temperatures of up to 45 °C. The first difference between this new EN 17176 Standard and the ISO benchmark Standard is that it has the same structure as Standards governing other types of plastic materials, such as polyethylene and conventional PVC, used in water pipes. It is, in fact, a fivepart Standard that includes the requirements for the raw material, the PVC-O pipes and fittings, and the tests they have to undergo to adapt them to the purpose of which they are designed. The standard was developed by theWG8 working group of the CEN/TC 155 European Standardisation Committee “Plastics piping systems and ducting systems”. This working group is responsible for the development of PUBLICADA LA PRIMERA NORMA EUROPEA, EN 17176, PARA TUBERÍAS Y ACCESORIOS DE PVC-O Hasta el momento, la norma de referencia a nivel mundial para el PVC Orientado (PVC-O) había sido el estándar ISO 16422, pero al igual que en otros tipos de materiales, se echaba en falta una normativa europea para este tipo de tuberías. Además, hay que tener en cuenta que esta normativa sólo recoge las especificaciones para tuberías. FIRST EUROPEAN STANDARD, EN 17176, FOR PVC-O PIPES AND FITTINGS Until now, the global Standard for Oriented PVC (PVC-O) has been the ISO 16422 Standard. However, as in the case of other types of materials, Europe was lacking a Standard for this type of pipe. Moreover, it must be borne in mind that the ISO Standard only covers pipe specifications.
