La UTE formada por Acciona Industrial e Imasa Ingeniería y Proyectos está llevando a cabo la construcción de la planta bajo un contrato EPC, así mismo será responsable de la operación y mantenimiento de la misma durante 15 años. La planta de biomasa de Curtis Teixeiro se levanta sobre una parcela de 103.000m2 y tendrá una potencia de 50MWenplenaactividad, energía suficiente paraabastecer auna población de más de 250.000 habitantes. Una vez finalizada, se convertirá en lamayor planta de biomasa forestal de la Península Ibérica y del Sur de Europa que utilice restos de poda y residuos de madera de eucalipto y la primera en innovación tecnológica. Su puesta en funcionamiento permitirá generar 324 GWh y tendrá capacidad para tratar 500.000 t de restos de corta forestal al año. Estos residuos serán suministrados por la filial del grupo Greenalia Forest que los recogerá en bosques certificados por los sistemas FSC o PEFC situados en un radio de 100 km alrededor de las instalaciones. La planta incorpora las últimas novedades tecnológicas aplicadas a infraestructuras de biomasa para generación eléctrica, cumpliendo con la más restrictiva normativa europea. Se trata de unas instalaciones altamente eficientes en cuanto a generación y con un nivel reducido de emisiones de CO2 a la atmósfera. Es una planta de refrigeración seca, lo que supone que apenas consume agua y no producen vertidos. Se prevé que los trabajos estén finalizados en septiembre y que entre en funcionamiento en el primer trimestre de 2020. Se trata de la primera planta de biomasa financiada por el BEI bajo el marco del Plan de Inversiones para Europa. La financiación de la Planta de biomasa de Curtis supone un hito clave para el cumplimiento del plan de negocio de Greenalia, ya que la misma supondrá unos ingresos de 33 M€ y un EBITDA de más de 16 M€ en 2021; asegurando para el grupo unos ingresos recurrentes de 910 M€ por la venta de energía, y 295 M€ por la venta de biomasa forestal, a lo largo de 25 años, para Greenalia Forest. Además del impactomedioambiental positivo, este proyecto generará beneficios económicos y sociales, promoviendo la creación de empleo y el crecimiento económico en zonas rurales. Durante el proceso de construcción y hasta su puesta en marcha, la planta está generando más de 1.000 puestos de trabajo entre empleos directos e indirectos, The Curtis-Teixeiro biomass plant is one the most important renewable energy projects in Europe. The Curtis Teixeiro biomass plant is being built on a 103,000 m2 site and will have a capacity of 50 MWwhen fully operational, enough energy to supply a population of over 250,000. Once completed, this pioneer in terms of technological innovation will be the largest forest biomass facility in the Iberian Peninsula and Southern Europe, using pruning and eucalyptus wood waste. Once commissioned, the plant will generate 324 GWh per annum and will have the capacity to treat 500,000 tonnes of forest biomass. This waste will be supplied by group subsidiary Greenalia Forest, which will collect it from FSC or PEFC certified forests within a radius of 100 km from the plant. The plant features the latest biomass power generation technologies and complies with the most stringent European legislation. This is a highly efficient power generation facility, with low CO2 emissions. It uses dry cooling technology, which means minimal water consumption and no effluent discharges. Construction work is scheduled for completion in September and the plant is expected to come online in the first quarter of 2020. This is the first biomass power plant to be financed by the EIB within the framework of the Investment Plan for Europe. The financing of the Curtis-Teixeiro biomass plant represents a key milestone in the Greenalia business plan, as it involves revenues of €33m and an EBITDA of over €16m in 2021. It will guarantee a recurring income for the group of €910m from the sale of energy and €295mover 25 years for Greenalia Forest from the sale of forest biomass. In addition to the positive environmental impact, this project will generate economic and social benefits by promoting job creation and economic growth in rural areas. During the construction stage and up until its commissioning, the project will generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. 100 of these will become permanent once the plant starts operating, with 35 at the plant itself and the remainder in the area of biomass collection.
