on January 28, 2011
The last opened section corresponds to the last 3.4 kilometres of the pipeline and has cost 1.9 million euros, financed in charge of the European cohesion funds. At the opening of this section, the Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, stated that "today Barcelona returns to be pioneer" and that it should not "appear ever more to the world as the city which has to receive water in ships". For its part, the Councillor for the environment, Imma Mayol, said that the objective of the City Council is "90% of the water they consume municipal services be clean".
