January 13, 2009
The plant, designed to deal with the management of agroforestry products of administrations and farms in rural areas, has a dimension of 12 metres by 2.5 and a weight of 100 tons. "This makes it smaller than any installation of this type that can be found on the market", says the Foundation. This is presented as "a great proposal" for the generation of energy in rural environments and has an annual consumption of some 1,000 tons of biomass.
After seven years of work
The transformation process is based on an origin woody biomass gasification reactor. The project has been developed over the past seven years, and, is now in phase of demonstration with "very satisfactory" results. According to the Foundation, the clients that can be useful to a facility of this kind are drying of corn and alfalfa, Governments dedicated to the cleaning of forests or companies that need heat to meet residential demand.
The plant has been designed with the goal of providing an efficient solution for the use of agro-forestry by-products taking into account the needs of administrations and rural farms.
