On September 4, in the final leg of the Expo Zaragoza 2008, the
Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the area of agricultural sciences, organized a day of discussion to analyze the impact of the use of plant protection on water resources and the control measures that exist on this subject. The Act, which was sponsored by the multinational Syngenta Agro, was attended by Directors-General of the departments of agriculture and the environment of eight autonomous communities (Aragon, Andalusia, Castile - La Mancha, Castile and León, Catalonia, Galicia, La Rioja and Navarra), as well as several officials of the Ministry of environmentRural and marine (MARM) and agricultural organizations and associations of the sector (Asaja, Upa, Aepla, Aeac-SV and agrarian Forum).
During the day were developed several papers with regard to the global problem of the water and in particular the case of Spain; the European legislation in relation to the quality of the water and its impact on agriculture; the criteria for evaluation of plant protection products in relation to the water; or training as a key point to avoid the contamination of waters with pesticides, among other topics.
