Severn Trent Services donates equipment for disinfection of drinking water to Haiti

The donated system, which uses electrolytic technology, is designed to isolated areas where purifiers of water, waste treatment and disinfection of surfaces are needed. The combined units, making salt water and electricity (equivalent to chlorine) bleach are able to disinfect more than 49 million litres of drinking water per day.
The donation is part of a campaign to help ordinary citizens can treat their water to drink at the point of consumption. As he explains Ali Giti, director of sales at Servern Trent Services United States, "OS systems that will be sent to the country are easy to use by the population because it is not necessary to have any technical skills and are produced with few resources"", using only water, electricity and salt".
Three humanitarian organizations
The company has loaned a total of ten portable Sanilec systems and a ClorTec three humanitarian organizations working in Haiti: Operation Blessing International, Deep Springs International and the St. Damien Hospital.
Deep Spring International aims to reduce poverty, disease and unemployment through a comprehensive and sustainable program of security, servicing more than 38,000 families through programmes of treatment of drinking water in Haiti. According to Michael Ritter, co-founder and President of the Deep Springs International Organization, "the donation of the treatment plants of Severn Trent Services will increase its capacity to serve these families in a continuous and sustainable manner".
Operation Blessing International collaborates in strategic assistance in natural disasters providing support in medical emergencies, aid against hunger, water cleaning and development of the population.
Hospital St. Damien is specialized in Pediatrics and provides free services in Haiti. Equipment donated to the hospital will help the Centre to get disinfected water needed urgently. Collaborating centres of the hospital, including 24 elementary schools and two orphanages in Haiti will also benefit from the water-treatment of water at the same time.
