Environmentalists disagree with proposed changes to the regasification of Gijón

Environmentalists say in a statement that the company already requested the amendment of the conditions laid down in the Declaration of environmental impact in October 2008 in order to increase the height of the torch and not purify rainwater.
Enagas aims to enhance the torch for the Elimination of gas nine meters though, according to the Coordinator, with this measure "it seems that it can significantly improve the dispersion of gases to be broadcast".
This increase would leave the torch with a height of 74 meters which, for the environmental organization, would lead to an increase in its landscape and visual impact.
The Coordinator also called "outrageous" the proposal made by Enagas not carry rainwater to a sewage treatment plant for treatment and that, as an alternative, pour through thirteen draining ditches on the same plot.
Such a possibility, according to the environmental organization, supposed pollute the subsoil of the area and cause leaks into the sea of the pollutants that lead this rain water.
