01/12/2010

December 1, 2010.

A group of experts from European bodies for the 'CE' marking of small treatment plants recently met in Seville in order to analyse various aspects of the rule governing this procedure. The CENTA Foundation (Center of the new water technologies) has been responsible for the Organization of this meeting that, on the other hand, is the first time that takes place in Spain.

The group, composed of 15 experts from notified bodies of Germany, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Slovakia and Poland, has evaluated various issues of the norm that regulates its construction products. In particular, the working meeting in Seville Group analyzed the third section of the standard relating to plants of domestic sewage, with the aim of making progress in the standardization of the processes that are carried out in its application.

This meeting has led experts to develop a technical paper containing clarification and consensus interpretations of the various points addressed in the European standard, in order to facilitate its implementation.

Another of the issues discussed by the Working Group was that of the use of synthetic or artificial wastewater purifying efficiency tests, regardless of the country in which it is conducted.

To be able to deepen on the advantages and disadvantages of the use of this type of water in the validation tests, the researchers of the Centa Foundation will be a feasibility study for the use of synthetic water in the procedure for obtaining the CE marking of small sewage treatment plants. The results of this report will be presented at the next meeting of the Working Group, scheduled for the month of June 2011.

All these contributions will be forwarded to the Scientific Committee on the comprehensive review of the standard, to approve in due course the clarifications and modifications raised.

Also, experts agreed on the positive assessment of this Conference in Seville and established the issues to be addressed the next year.
