A project takes water to 42 towns of Segovia

Commonwealth village and land of Pedraza, in the province of Segovia, is facing serious difficulties in the water supply. On the one hand, problems relating to the availability of water, because that some locations have high water scarcity in periods summer, not having secured supply in these times of the year. On the other hand, problems of quality, which causes the quality of the waters is bad in some of these populations.

Faced with this situation, the State waters of the Duero awarded public works y Medio Ambiente, S.A. - OPM-, the execution of the works of regional supply, pipelines and ETAP of the Commonwealth village and land of Pedraza. The financing of the project is carried out in waters of the Duero S.A., the Junta de Castilla y León and the community of users.

It's a performance in the network of supply of high of a total of 42 villages belonging to 19 municipalities in the province of Pedraza. Works mainly include the construction of a water distribution pipeline to supply those populations, including the construction of a series of deposits - on existing ones - and the construction of a water treatment station.

Supply to the Commonwealth project raises the collection and distribution of drinking water from a common outlet, located on the dam of the Ceguilla River, until the 19 municipalities supplied. The work includes installation of 102 km of pipes. After an exhaustive study of materials, features and benefits applied to the requirements of the project, about half of the total length is designed with cast iron pipes because they can ensure a high mechanical resistance, a high resistivity in soil and aggressive wateras well as high flexibility of joints.

Field of performance: Aldealengua of Pedraza, Arahuetes, Arcones, Arevalillo of Cega, Beautiful Hill, Cubillo, Galicians, The Matilla, Matabuena, Muñoveros, Navafria, Orejana, Pedraza, Populates of Pedraza, Rebollo, Santiuste of Pedraza, Tower Val of San Pedro, Valdevacas and The Guijar and Valleruela of Pedraza.

Time limit of execution: 30 months (24 for the termination, more 6 for the set up).

Saint-Gobain PAM Spain participates in this important work with pipes and accessories of the K9 Standard ranges, Natural and Blutop, as well as ductile iron valves, ensuring the highest quality in piping systems and providing excellent performance in addressing the specific nature of the work.

The project of regional supply, driving and ETAP uses a total of 25 kilometres from the new range of pipes Blutop of Saint-Gobain PAM Spain. Present in all the diameters in the range, have been used 9 kilometers in DN 90, DN 110 and 9 in DN 125 7.

Taking into account the conditions of the environment, land with great presence of rock, the choice of this range is a safe bet thanks to the robustness of ductile iron and the ease and speed of installation of this new range of small diameters.

The filling of the ditch of Blutop tubes allow coverage from 30 centimeters to maximum depths of 45 m, with which to the usual coverage heights in this work Blutop offers great security. Also its exterior Zinaluim, resistant to the vast majority of the land of play, guaranteed unalterable resistance to direct contact with the ground.

The liner Ductan of the Blutop range that guarantees a well-behaved with aggressive waters and remained unchanged the quality of the waters, one of the objectives of the project.

With regard to the internal pressure, the pipes are class C25. This means that its working admissible (PFA) pressure is 25 bar, which makes them perfectly valid for the high pressure that will be subject during the operation of the new networks as a PFA of 25 bar represents the maximum safety and resistance with more than 150 bar bursting pressure values and a robustness of FD.

The design of the joints gives pipelines for great flexibility, thanks to the maximum of 6th in each Board angular deviation. This is an important advantage in adapting the channelling to the trace, saving on installation of accessories. In a tube of 6 metres, 6th of angular deviation translates into a shift at tip of 63 centimeters. The angular deviation is common for the two types of boards: Blutop and Blutop Vi. The latter is a locked Board capable of supporting efforts of traction. One of its applications, as in this work, is the installation in steep slope, because that prevents slipping of the tubes without the need for concrete anchors in each one of them.

In addition to its excellent mechanical properties, their lightness and manuportabilidad give the system's speed and ease of Assembly to help the smooth running of the works, significantly increasing the cadences of mounting. Therefore, he is a range of pipes, light, easy to transport but that maintains the advantages that ductile brings to the pipes.

It is important the hydraulic capacity with respect to other materials. Thanks to its reduced wall thickness, same fixed outside diameter is achieved a far superior hydraulic diameter, which favors the good behavior of networks and minor loss of load.

The qualities of the new range Blutop of Saint-Gobain PAM Spain allow to achieve the objectives set out in the project of water security of 19 municipalities of the Commonwealth's Villa and land of Pedraza, are the following:

-Security of supply, ensuring the supply of drinking water to 42 villages in the area.

-Water quality, in accordance with the parameters established by the legislation in force.

-Adequate sizing, with a network of supply for a population equivalent calculated for a time horizon of 25 years.
