The Marm makes public the axes of the national strategy for the sustainability of the 2015 horizon irrigation

The Director general of the water of the Ministry of environment, and Rural areas and marine (Marm), Marta Morén, made reference to the investment that will make the Central Government in the national strategy for the sustainability of the 2015 horizon irrigation. The strategy, in negotiation with the autonomous communities, will regulate the financing and implementation of actions to improve and consolidation of irrigation. In particular, the budget allocated to this investment is approximately 2.372 million of
euros, of which the Government will provide almost 1,415 million, according to the Director of the Ministry of water. With this strategy, will save more than 1,100 hm of water per year, while the affected area will exceed the 860,000 hectares.
In the framework of the XI information day of irrigation of the high Aragon, Morén reminded us that the future national strategy for the sustainability of the 2015 horizon irrigation intends to continue with modernization, efficiency and sustainability in the use of water in irrigation systems. Another objective, in the opinion of the Director general of the Marm is a framework for operation of energy efficiency, rationalize consumption and foster the implementation of renewable energy. This contributes, as well as economic and environmental benefit in the reduction of the effects of climate change. Finally, Marta Morén has stressed that this strategy should have a social component, as it seeks to modernize irrigation farms while maintaining the richness of the agricultural industry, the development of agro-industry partner and strengthening the structure of agri-food productionopening new avenues of employment for the population of the rural areas.
